Looking After Yourself - Safety - Personal Tips
Student Safety Tips
With all the media we are exposed to, you might think it is just a matter of time before you become a victim of violent crime, but in fact crimes involving violence are rare.

There are many things you can do to prevent yourself becoming a victim without imposing any limits on a free and active life. On this website we provide personal tips to help you to help yourself by travelling safely, protecting personal property, looking after personal possessions and having fun safely.

First of all here are a few general pointers to bear in mind:

  •  If your gut reaction is that there is trouble ahead – there probably is, so get somewhere safe, fast.

  • Be alert.  A confident person is much less likely to be attacked. Hold your head up and be aware of your surroundings and potential hazards.

  • Never assume that it won't happen to you - no one is invincible! Trust your instincts and act straight away. Remember that appearances CAN be deceptive.
Don't rely on your mobile phone being charged, having a signal, or having credit!
